2025 ELECTIONS Spring Primary – February 18, 2025 – if needed. Spring Election – April 1, 2025.
The Spring Election each year offers races for 2 Trustee seats, during even years, the Village Chairperson position is also available. These positions are open to any Village of Dane resident, 18 years and over. Nomination papers may be picked up in the Clerk’s Office, 20 – 50 signatures are needed to secure a spot on the Spring Election ballot. Signatures may be obtained from December 1, 2024, to January 7, 2025.
All village residents vote at the Village Community Center, 102 W Main Street, Dane WI 53529.
Anyone moving into the village, changing their name, or moving within the village limits must register to vote. You can register online at myvote.wi.gov or in person at the Village Clerk’s Office. Bring your photo ID, and your proof of residence (like a utility bill, bank statement, lease, or pay stub) showing your current name and address. Online registrations MUST be completed 3 weeks prior to the current election, after that date, registrations must be done in the clerk’s office.
Proof of residence (POR) is required to register to vote. Proof of residence items may be – Photo ID (if your current address is listed), bank or credit card statement, utility bill, lease agreement, paycheck, student or government ID (must show address), other government document (social security statement, hunting license, etc – must show address), or tax statement.
Bring your VALID Photo ID when you come to vote.
Absentee Ballots – Applications for an absentee ballot may be filled out after Janaury 1st each year at https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/Vote-Absentee-By-Mail. Absentee ballots MUST be mailed out and cannot be picked up at the clerk’s office to be filled out at home.
Before returning your Absentee Ballot, 1) sign the envelope, 2) have a witness sign it, and 3) write their complete address on the last yellow line. This is imperative information, if you want your vote to be counted. Incomplete envelopes will be returned to the voter for completion or rejected at the polling place.
Absentee Ballots need to be mailed to Village Hall or dropped off in the Clerk’s Office. All Absentee Ballots must be returned to the polling place by 8PM the day of the election in order to be counted. The Polls open at 7 am and close at 8 pm on Election Day.
