Operator License Application – Use for Temporary, Provisional, or Regular
All dogs, over the age of 5 months, must be licensed to reside in the Village of Dane. Tags are issued annually beginning in late December. The license is good from January 1 until December 31 each year. Completed Applications and Rabies Certificates must be submitted with your full payment. Click here for a Dog License Application.
Do not delay in licensing your dog. Owners of unlicensed pets will be issued a ticket by the Village of Dane Police Department. Any unlicensed dog running at large will be picked up by Dane County Animal Control Officer.
If your pet passes away, it is best to contact the Village Clerk’s Office. Your pets information needs to be updated in the dog license system. We appreciate your attention to this matter.
Fees: Neutered/spayed $20.00; unneutered/unspayed $25.00. Send the dog license application(s), a copy of the vaccination certificate(s), and payment along with a self-addressed stamped envelope to the Village of Dane.
Puppies need to be licensed once they turn 5 months of age or as soon as they are spayed or neutered.
A $20.00 late fee is assessed for licenses obtained after April 1. If you include the application with your tax payment, please write a separate check for the dog license. Additional applications can be obtained in the village office.
Registering your dog with the Village is your responsibility. You risk being cited by the Dane Police Department for failure to license your pet.
Pets running at large when caught, will be turned over to a Dane County Animal Control Officer and taken to the Dane County Humane Society for holding until owners can be located. If we do not have a record on file of your pet, through the dog licensing program, it will be harder to identify the pets owner.
If you are new to the Village of Dane and need a current dog license application, please contact the Village Clerk‘s office at (608) 849-5422.
Thank you.
